Netanyahu: Right President for wrong country?Reader comment on item: Netanyahu's Steady Hand Submitted by Michael S (United States), Feb 23, 2015 at 01:01 Hi, Anne You said, I am really hoping that Israelis know this is a very serious vote and election, one that determines their national security, their future, and their children's futures as well, they certainly need a Prime Minister who is looking out for their welfare, not an agenda, or to help the Islamic caliphate progress... There are some vocal Israeli Jews, complete idiots, who continually preach about the blissfull Utopia that will ensue if Israel gives even more land to the Arabs. The vast majority of the brethren there, on the other hand, seem to have their heads screwed on pretty firmly. America could desert Israel at the drop of a hat, but the Israeli Jews will not desert their own homeland. After 2000 years of history in the Dispersion, and especially after the Holocaust, I believe most of them understand that they have no viable alternative.
After what you've seen, I expect that you have no doubt about the importance of Mr. Netanyau's coming speech, and about the treachery involved in President Obama's trying to obstruct it. I thank God for our Republican-dominated Congress, and for the hearts of the American people that elected it. The Republicans have said and done some things I don't like; but they have been a good check against Obama and his coven with regards to Israel. He's been the most anti-Israel since Jimmy Carter; though I must say that in spite of this, Israel has prospered under his administration. We have God to thank for that. We can only guess what will come next. Will it be the Democrats? or the Republicans? I don't trust any of them. It was our Republican Pres., George W. Bush, who made Israeli PM Ariel Sharon scrounge around for lodgings in Waco while the President entertained a Saudi guest on his ranch. It was the same Bush who made the Israeli delegation come to the Annapolis conference through the servants' entrance while the Arabs came through the front door; and it was the self-same George Walker Bush who made the perilous "Two-State Solution" official US policy. At times, I wish Netanyahu were OUR President, instead of Israel's. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
