Genocide IndustryReader comment on item: More on Turkish Support for ISIS Submitted by Kuvayi Milliye (Turkey), Aug 16, 2014 at 13:36 Empty talk vs facts once again. --- Since moving to its new location at Sultan Ahmed Square it has been thronged with researchers. Usually several hundred scholars, young and old, Turkish and foreign (including scholars from Armenia and Greece) are studying there at all times. To say that these are a few persons selected by the Turkish government is absurd. The only persons I know to have been excluded from the archives are a very few persons who have abused the employees or who have attempted to steal documents. When I first came to these archives forty years ago, it employed a few elderly gentlemen able to read the old script, and their cataloging went very slowly. The archives now has a large staff of catalogers, and it has made available an amazing variety of all sorts of important documents, including the files of the Ministry of the Interior and the Secret Police, the complete archives of Sultan Abdulhamid II's Yildiz Palace, large amounts of secret correspondence stemming from the Young Turk period. More is being made available every month. The materials concerning Armenians have all been microfilmed, with Xerox copies made available in bound volumes in the reading room. Copies of these microfilms also were sent to the U.S. Library of Congress and other national libraries throughout the world. ( Professor Standford Shaw ) --- It should also be pointed out that when the Greek army invaded Turkey between 1919 and 1922, it carried out a conscious policy of ethnic cleansing with the purpose of killing or driving out all inhabitants of Western Turkey who did not share Greek nationality and religion. Causing those Muslims and Jews who survived to flee to the areas under Turkish nationalist control. This policy was eloquently reported in a detailed report presented by an International Commission of Investigation chaired by American Admiral and High Commissioner Mark Bristol. Including representatives of Italy, France and Great Britain, as well as Greek and Turkish observers, by a Red Cross report written by the Red Cross representative in Turkey, Maurice Gehry. Historian Arnold Toybee in a series of articles published at the time in the Manchester Guardian and later summarized in his book, The Western Question in Greece and Turkey. As a result, Great Britain cut off all military and financial assistance to the Greek invasion, a major reason for its ultimate defeat by the armies of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. ( Professor Stanford Shaw ) --- While playing poker with a bunch of Greeks, Armenians and Italians in the back room of a Greek restaurant in New Jersey, I punched a Greek named Manoli and broke his nose, as he was trying to cheat. I am wondering if this incident went down in Greek annals as the, Greek Genocide of 1973 at Town Diner in Paterson, New Jersey. ( Jean Marais ) --- Until 1821, Greeks knew that there had once been a Christian empire with its capital at Constantinople, but they did not think of it as a Greek empire, and they certainly didn't call it the Byzantine Empire.
