Erdogan is shooting himself in the foot.Reader comment on item: More on Turkish Support for ISIS Submitted by Michael S. (United States), Sep 13, 2014 at 19:59 Kuvayi, I don't know when and where this thread got hijacked into speculations over past Turkish atrocities. Frankly, I'm not interested in those things. What I AM interested in, is Turkey's repeated interference in NATO and American operations -- such as pulling the rug from under our feet in 2003, helping Saddam Hussein by not allowing the coalition to attack Iraq from the north; or in the present instance, in its maintaining an open door for ISIS to receive reinforcements and revenue from its illegal oil trade. You have been hard at work, being an apologist for Turkey; but even you can't come up with a pro-Turkish stance in the league of the likes of Barack Obama and John Kerry, as well as the coverage of events by the press. Take this recent headline, for example: Saturday,September 13 2014, Your time is 4:12:05 PM Saturday,September 13 2014, Your time is 4:12:05 PM When one looks at what the article actually SAYS, one can readily see that Turkey pledges no support whatever to our anti-ISIL campaign; but rather, it is again obstructing our efforts.:
As someone who seems to himself be an ISIL supporter, I realise that you aren't losing any sleep over the fact that Turkey is taking a "pass" in these matters. As an American, however, I can understand why there are some in my country who have had enough of Turkey and its charades. Consider the following about an article the Wall Street Journal, the most prominent LEFTIST newspaper in America:
That bit of news, of course, came from Turkey itself -- from the conservative Gülen Movement which Erdogan's dictatorship is systematically purging, but nonetheless from Turkey. I doubt that Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry will do anything before 2017, to move our main Turkish airbase elsewhere. In fact, Mr. Obama in particular is so infatuated with Erdogan, and so out of touch with reality, that I think he would put a positive spin on a Turkish invasion of the US. Outside of his fairy-tale world in Washington, however, Americans are taking notice of what's going on in your country. It's also very much of note, to see that even Masoud Barzani, Erdogan's Kurdish puppet in Iraq, has been publicly speaking out about Turkish duplicity, and instead praising the Iranians -- who HAVE helped the Kurds in their struggle against ISIS, while the Turks sit on their hands. That is a game-changer, because it is pressing the KRG ever closer to a formal alliance with their (and Turkey's) former opponents, the PKK. In this case, Erdogan is shooting himself in the foot.
