Excellent Proposal! Right Idea At The Right Time!

Reader comment on item: Hello, Kurdistan

Dr. Pipes ... This is so timely. As soon as the ISIS began going after the Yazidis and Kurds, I recanted my once-held belief that Joe Biden's 3-state solution (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/01/opinion/01biden.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1&) was a bad idea. Perhaps then-Senator Biden was a lot wiser than he was credited with being, but in 2006 it seemed far-fetched and against the goals of creating a unified, stable, democratic and non-sectarian government in the Middle East.

Seems now that the only place where that could be possible would be Kurdistan. And your idea about giving the Kurds a path to the Med is an essential element in legitimizing a Kurdish state and keeping them a part of the brotherhood of nations. Keep advocating for this idea. It will be a tough sell with Erdogan and the Iran's Ruling Council, but it makes so much sense now.

PS: I'm sending Joe Biden a copy of your article with a note telling him that you are a genius!
