Turkey KurdistanReader comment on item: Hello, Kurdistan Submitted by myth (Germany), Sep 15, 2014 at 09:12 Turkey's relations with both Greece and the Kurds are problematic. Looking at Cyprus I am afraid the Turkish vision of a federation resembles more of a neo-ottoman mini-Empire. However you raise an unavoidable question concerning the de-facto Kurdish state. What will NATO's relation be with Kurdistan? From the Crimea-invasion I learn to things: First, do not leave Kurdistan to Russian, let alone Iranian influence while there is still time. Second, don't try to establish federations without sorting out the military alliance first. I consider it a grave mistake on the part of the EU who made advances to Ukraine after Ukraine declined an offer from NATO. What I have in mind is a situation where Turkey would be a little less of a NATO member and Kurdistan a trusted associate of the alliance.
