Norquist, Weiner and IslamReader comment on item: Is Grover Norquist an Islamist? Submitted by Alice Derman (United States), Apr 16, 2015 at 22:59 Norquist may well be either an Islamist or, more simply, someone who is sympathetic toward Muslims. I do not view the latter possibility as necessarily bad. Naming their child Grace is more suggestive of Christian influence than Muslim influence. But I seriously doubt that Weiner, a staunch defender of Israel, is Muslim, Islamist or even oriented toward favoring Muslim causes generally. Perhaps, the main thing that he did to placate his wife, in addition to giving up alcohol and occasionally fasting on Ramadan, was to prove to the world that he was simultaneously following a Muslim AND Jewish commandment by sending around visual proof of his circumcision via the internet.
