I checked again with my source about room rates at the Nile Hilton in 1970 He told me that he and his wife spent their wedding night and they paid 6 Egyptian pounds. When I told him about your response He told me that there were different rates for Egyptians and non Egyptians where Egyptians were able to pay in Egyptian pound and it was much less per night when compared with what non Egyptians had to pay,

He promised me that he and his wife will look for the hotel receipt and if he locates it he will e-mail it to me and its OK with him if you post it at danielpipes.org
