SRP

The paper to which you refer was his SRP or strategic research project (identified as such on the title page). It is one of the requirements for the Masters in Strategic Studies, but is quite brief (usually, not always, a Lebanese fellow wrote an excellent 75+ pp. SRP) as compared to a Masters thesis in a civilian, or traditional university. al-Sisi did not actually earn or compete for the Masters - it isn't very often awarded to the foreign fellows unless they qualify in the English examination at a certain level. So, a paper that is less lengthy or involved than one written by a U.S. officer may suffice.

Amusement because

a) al-Sisi indicated that he did NOT agree to share his SRP with anyone but his advisors and evaluators. This is supposed to be a binding regulation. However the College sent out the SRP in response to a FOIA and then it was shared online (against regs) and then as people began to write and claim he was an Islamist, I decided I better share my views since I am no longer employed at AWC.

b) it is amazing to read/see what is assumed about any person who becomes a public figure based on a fairly limited amount of information; makes one think hard about biographies ...
