Why Is The UAE So Sane?Reader comment on item: Can the Dubai Model Inspire Arabs? Submitted by Dave (United States), Dec 31, 2015 at 13:01 Thank you, Dr. Pipes. I just finished a software contract with GlobalFoundries, a semiconductor company owned by the UAE, which recently purchased IBM's Microelectronics division, where I had been working. The technologies being developed are leading edge, as are their extensive international manufacturing facilities. This accords with your report on the UAE's relative modernity and enterprising spirit. In the political arena, the UAE was recently in the news after their officials denounced CAIR as a pro-terrorist, MB-linked organization. In many ways, the UAE is savvier than many of our Western moonbat regimes. Wasn't that supposed to be how Gaza was supposed to turn out after the Israeli withdrawal? Analyzing why the UAE is more like Singapore than Gaza would be instructive. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Good question about Singapore vs. Gaza. Reader comments (20) on this item
