Idea: Build up Amman into this type of cityReader comment on item: Can the Dubai Model Inspire Arabs? Submitted by PezDispenser (Israel), Jan 1, 2016 at 07:18 Dr. Pipes, My idea to help solve the Palestinian vs. Israel conflict is to have the Gulf States and international community build up Amman into a thriving Dubai style city. Why? Because it would serve as a growing urban hub for jobs that Palestinians could commute to during the daytime. In the evenings, they could just drive back to their West Bank villages and towns which would serve as bedroom communities and spend disposable income on growing their local economy. It would also take the pressure off Israel to admit Palestinian day laborers and reduce the security risk that comes with them. Next, it breaks the power of PA monopolies and allows for economic growth and less dependence on foreign aid even to the annoyance of the PA. Last but not least, such an open city fosters more moderate ideas across borders - and these values could be quickly ingrained into the worldview of future commuters, which is against the PA and Hamas interest but in everyone else's interest. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
