Curious titleReader comment on item: Can the Dubai Model Inspire Arabs? Submitted by Philip (United Kingdom), Jan 1, 2016 at 05:23 In practical terms the place is a haven engaged in a quasi miraculous balancing act as someone on a high wire in between 2 skyscrapers. The water supply could fail or be sabotaged. if the immigrants left it could become bankrupt overnight despite its reserves. Presumably Saudi, the US and UK are Protecting Powers... But if they even get a sniff of ISIS or any similar the whole lot could come down and/or erupt like a house of cards with C4 inside. it sounds both far more progressive than the region would normally 'allow' and therefore far more vulnerable to the least ripple. it might inspire Arabs in the way that maybe van Gogh inspires painters...until one realises he committed suicide... Hm... Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
