The source of the resistanceReader comment on item: Breaking the Palestinians' Will to Fight Submitted by David G (United States), Apr 10, 2017 at 12:03 Sooner or later, the centrality of the tenets of Islam will have to be faced, aired, made permissible to discuss openly. The Islamic belief system is the one thread that winds through the history of this conflict, and for that matter, many other conflicts. It is the primary motivating force that prevents resolution and causes mayhem. The contents of the Islamic belief system, beginning with the Koran and the sunnah, and continuing through the history of implementation in many ways are responsible for the everlasting standoff until the infidels lose, one way or another. It would be good to more and more distinguish publicly the religion from the ideology, and talk about the ideology, so that non-Muslims will gradually recognize the difference -- despite Western media's steadfast blockade of such thinking -- learn to be more comfortable criticising and opposing the supremacist ideology, and learn how to respond to critics who try to dismiss them as bigots. It is urgent to get this discussion mainstreamed. Once the ideological aspects of Islam are comprehended, many conflicts, including "senseless" attacks and non-violent threats to democracy begin to make sense.
