"Doomed to extinction"Reader comment on item: Breaking the Palestinians' Will to Fight Submitted by Peter (United States), Apr 10, 2017 at 13:16 "Palestinians collectively hold three related views of Israel: it has no historical or moral claim to exist, it is inherently rapacious and expansionist, and it is doomed to extinction" If Palestinians hold the first and third of these views, my guess is that they spring from such verses in the Quran as 5:20-21: "O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah has prescribed for you and turn not on your backs for then you will turn back losers". Yet the irony is that the Judeo-Christian scriptures seem to tell of a diametrically opposite "doom": ""If this fixed order departs from before me, declares the LORD, then shall the offspring of Israel cease from being a nation before me forever." (Jeremiah 31:36), or "[The Lord] gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to his people Israel" (Psalm 135:12). This is one reason, I would submit, that promoting "moderate Islam" will ultimately fail to address problems such as Palestinian rejectionism, because moderate Islam still leaves the door open to the "doom" implied by Quran 5:20-21. To swing the Palestinian population towards accepting that Israel is here to stay (the "doom" of Psalm 135:12), at a very fundamental level more Palestinians will have to accept what the Judeo-Christian scriptures say will happen.
