Hello, Refugees!Reader comment on item: Merkel's Historic Folly Submitted by Solomon2 (United States), Aug 29, 2017 at 13:59 Hello, Refugees! is the title of Tuvia Tenenbom's latest book. Have you read it, Dr. Pipes? He writes that the net influx of refugees basically halted after Merkel cut a deal with Turkey over a year ago. The refugees he met are mostly cooped up, unemployed, bored, and sometimes terrified by violent extremists who may be housed in the same facilities. While the Germans may be motivated by misplaced guilt, smug superiority, and media-mandated politically correct group-think, there is much less indication that Germany is actually being swamped by its immigrants than two or three years ago. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: Tuvia Tenenbom is great but I have not read his new book Reader comments (26) on this item
