Merkel infantelising the electorate and the East-German reactionReader comment on item: Merkel's Historic Folly Submitted by myth (Germany), Aug 30, 2017 at 09:33 Merkel's advice to retreat to church in order to re-examines one's very identity is patronising at best. Merkel is infantelising the electorate. No mention that every grown-up individual has one vote to actually change the situation. Why would she when her decisions arise independent and of any votes. Her reply is actually as bad as it gets. First, the East-Germans do remember being treated as children. Yes, it was East-Germany, not the West, where the Pegida street-protest movement emerged. As for me in the West I recognise this weird insidious not-really-saying-anything language coming out of mouths moving in heads educated in the East. The East-German background story of the church playing a vital role in bringing down the Iron Curtain? This is a lie. East Germany was never Poland.
