Calling out all the left is racistReader comment on item: Why I Am Not a Populist Submitted by David Benjamin (Canada), Nov 28, 2019 at 12:09 Mr. Pipes seems to fall into the same trap that he warns us against. He says" Populism is a simple response to a complex problem. Like racism, it incorrectly attributes one characteristic to a diverse population". Well, he attributes a long list of societal ills to the Left as if the Left is a single homogeneous group. Many on the left take issue with the Bernie Sanders and others on the so-called left. Many on the left are the ones standing up to authoritarianism endemic today on the right. The Left brought us Social Security, Medicare, Civil Rights. The left was the founding force behind the establishment of the State of Israel. Pipes should be encouraging the more traditional Left voices not dismissing the entire Left which, by his own definition, is racist.
