Conservative wins around the world and IslamReader comment on item: Why I Am Not a Populist Submitted by Prashant (United States), Dec 14, 2019 at 11:49 Dear Dr Pipes, Those of us who kept track of the news of Boris Johnson's landslide victory in the British elections must also have seen the news that Bristish Muslims are not too happy about his win. I am citing two references below but thare are scores of others. The reaction of British Muslims to Boris Johnson's win is identical to the reaction of Indian and US muslims to the earlier conservative wins in those countries. The same phenomenon will probably be repeated in many other democracies in the months/years to come. It is interesting that different democratic elections in different countries in different continents at different times, can cause the same fear in the minds of Muslims. Why are Msulims fearful of their future whereever they live? I believe that Muslims have misused the democratic freedoms available to them in modern democracies. Not only Islamic groups in these countries did not ever express any genuine regret toward the acts of violence perpetrated around the world in the name of Islam, they never acknowledged that Islamic doctrines are often times fundamentally anti-democracy. In addition, Muslim groups in non-Muslim countries never expressed any regret that the the state of democracy and human rights in the Islamic world is abysmal. Instead, Muslim groups chose to shamelessly demonstrate even higher degree of hypocrisy by preaching our free societies exact same principles that we so dearly preserve but that are routinely violated in Islamic societies. Islamic hypocrisy is a big reason behind the conservative wins around the world. 30 years ago it would have been hard to believe, for example, that the Hindu diaspora in the UK or USA elections would vote for the conservatives. Today, both Republicans in the USA and conservatives in the UK, seek Hindu votes. And as the recent elections show, Hindus are not alone. Frankly speaking, people are tired of Muslims duplicitous behavior. What is happening is a gentle wake up call to Muslims. It is time that Muslims offer to others what they love to receive. Muslims must realize that separation of Church of state is good for people even if they live in societies where they constitute 100% of the population. And, suppressing other people's belief in favor of yours is bad, no matter where you live. And, female minds are as capable of thoughts as male minds are and female thoughts cannot be suppressed either! And, indeed, democracy does not have to adapt to Islam; it is Islam that must adapt to democracy.
