International media is complicitReader comment on item: Reflections on the Debacle in Afghanistan: Interview Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 21, 2021 at 11:23 Dear Dr Pipes, Millions of well-educated journalists writing about the events in Afghanistan cannot be ignorant, misinformed, or dumb. They are just coward. They are writing articles after articles on Afghanistan without using the I-word as if the events in that country are caused by one or two bad dictators and as if Islam is neither a cause nor a factor. People are usually evacuated when wars start. People are not evacuated when wars end. Why are we evacuating people from Afghanistan after the Taleban's have won? The reason is that no one wants to live in Islamic mega-majority countries. The system of governance adopted and recommended by Islam is selfish and unacceptable to non-Muslims. It is even harmful to Muslims. No one is saying that Islamic societies are dangerous for non-Muslims. No report, no academic paper, no editorial, no nothing. Between the lines in these articles, there are places where Islam's support for tyranny, and ideocy must be mentioned. But authors skip this mention. They mention about evacuation but they won't say that Islamic rules are dangerous for non-Muslims (and Muslims). They mention about murders and violence but they will skip the facts that Islamic doctrine encourages violence both in principle and practice. They will mention about a person and his "9 children" but they will not mention about Islam's obsession about increasing the percentage of its followers in every population. The most the media will do is to question the Taleban's policies toward women. As if the Islamic rulers spoil men and boys with indulgence and love. Our media is complicit and coward. They will say everything as long as it does not cover the uncomfortable truths. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
