German politics is a mess

The AfD was founded by economists to stop the massive payments for Greece and other broken countries in southern Europe, stating that there is no bail-out and no transfer union in EU laws. Most parties actually try to establish that. The party had some minor success at election and was hijacked by new members. So it's a wild mixture of several opinions and people in that party.
The main problem in german politics is not to be openly antisemite - but you can cover this up. In 2019 the current German president Steinmeier (Social Democrats) congratulate Iran officially for 40 years of revolution (!), after he refused to congratulate Trump for presidency. In addition he visited the grave of PLO-founder Arafat. His party helped muslim radicals into olitics and offer them posts for votes from their community. The German Green Party (Die Grünen) and the left (Die Linke) also spit on the West and unconditionally supports "oppressed" people like the Arabs in Israel. So there is hypocrisy all over and media only focus on the AfD. You can't make that up ..
