Dear Jeff,

1. No one, as far as I know, calls Jews "slaves" under Hitler's NAZI Third Reich. But I do. My own mother and father were "lucky." They survived the HOLOCAUST by working working in NAZI Labor Camps. They lived in Drohobitz, then Nazi Occupied Poland, now a city in Ukraine. My father was a Carpenter in a Shop. This was an Oil Refinery center. My mother worked as a maid for the Nazi Gestapo local commander. No one thinks of this as Slavery, only because it is overshadowed by the Gas Chamber and Ovens which burnt the Jewish corpses.

2. The Declaration of Independence is a separate and distinct document in relation to the Constitution. And it generally has no Constitutional relevance; I cannot recall it ever being cited by our US Supreme Court when a Decision or Opinion was issued, although it does seem rel event to the INTENT of our Founding Fathers who drafted our Constitution. However, our Construction was instituted ONLY AFTER the Articles of Confederation were adopted by the 13 States (former Colonies) which by then already adopted their own distinct State Constitutions. But the South (also, coincidentally 13 states), when it rebelled, revives the notion of a Confederation by calling itself the CONFEDERACY. And it took A BLOODY Civil War (1860-1865) to resolve this Constitutional issue; in 1854 there was the infamous Dred Scott (slavery) Case, which validated slavery throughout the Union. As it turned out Slavery was abolish by President Lincoln in 1863 with his (Executive) Emancipation Proclamation. However, this did not invalidate the 1854 slavery ruling; that was only accomplished, as you cite, beginning with 1867, with the 13th and 14th amercements to our constitution which made every person born within the USA a citizen thereof, as well as a citizen of the State wherein person was born.

3. To my recollection, there were 13,000,000 Holocaust victims of Nazi Germany under Hitler. Subtracting the 6,000,000 Jews from this figure, gives you 7,000,000 non-Jewish victims. However, Jews were the largest religious or ethic group singled out of complete extermination under the 1942 Wannsee Conference. Although Hitler considered the world to be divided into 3 Races, he saw the Germans as superior, the Slaves in the Middle, and Jews and Gypsies as Inferior. But the Conference was primarily about the efficient extermination of the Jews of Europe under Hitler's Jurisdiction as far as his military forces could reach. Mussolini was not particularly thrilled about this. Only with his downfall, was Hitler's regime able to ship Italian Jews to extermination (or labor) Camps up north.

4. My "unfortunate" term was sarcastic - for the benefit of Anti-Semites and Palestinians. As you may know, the Palestinian see Israel as their (1948 or so) MISFORTUNE, or the Great Catastrophe. Nevertheless, Israel Exists.
