Don't give upReader comment on item: Tempering Ambitions [in Iraq] Submitted by Octavio Johanson (Italy), Nov 11, 2006 at 16:40 Sidda often says that Americans are more determined than Europeans. He forgets about Britain. If Britain isn't European enough, he forgets about Italy. 19 Carabinieri lost their lives in Nassyria for their mission. Of course, many more Americans have died. Anyway, I am not sure that this war was the right thing to do but, once you are there, you have got to stay. Leaving Iraq now would be seen as weakness. Of course, no Weapons of Mass Destructions were ever found. But the Coalition is there, and they cannot give up now. Leaving Iraq now would be seen as weakness, as a surrender. I don't know why troops went there in the first place, but going away without having accomplished anything would be even worse. Finally, you need to be a True Believer in your cause. I am no neo-conservative, but I have to admit that GW Bush is a True Believer in exporting democracy. My money on the True Believers.
