ratchet downReader comment on item: Tempering Ambitions [in Iraq] Submitted by Yuval Brandstetter MD (Israel), Nov 12, 2006 at 07:49 Ratchet this down further. The only business America has in Iraq is to dethrone a dangerous strongman and liquidate his stocks of chemical, biological or other weapons. Everything else, including Iraq's borders is irrelevant, because the only relevant issue is tribal sectarianism. Iraq as a fragmented bedlam is no threat to the region. As for it falling into Iran's hands, that's poppycock, because Iraq's Shi'a is Arab, not Farsi, and as soon as the common enemy is not in their faces, thieves will fall out. Now for the next serious mission. Iran, with a dangeous strongman and commitee at the helm, Messianic pretensions, Nuclear weapons in the making and the clear and present intention to use then indiscriminately. Now, that is a worthy adversary, rather than those piddling road-side bombs and stupid sharpshooters.
