Cultural transfigurationReader comment on item: Tempering Ambitions [in Iraq] Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Nov 11, 2006 at 17:06 To focus only on government and the economy is a reproach to those who gave their lives so that Iraq would be freed from Saddam and his troglodytes. Culture is expressed via ethics in all areas of life, not just government and the economy - so, wouldn't it be better to strengthen the culture to something approaching healthiness rather than just apply a tourniquet to a wound that got dirty, but no cleansing of the wound was done. Seriously, we have to look at what leads to healthy cultures, and then see, in this case, what holds it back that is within Islam (The same approach can be done regarding Chinese culture, for speaking for myself, they have chosen to aid those who spill blood in the name of Allah). Then, we can take steps to weaken those attributes which are holding back Islam. After all, when the West and those who are identified via the crescent moon are evaluated by what each group did with their time since Constantinople was conquered in 1453, marked differences are there to be observed by those who have not arrived at conclusions before evaluating the data. Liberty, and the light that emanates from the lamp of Lady Liberty, is healthy and frankly those who do the best job of balancing libertas, caritas and veritas are the healthiest. This goes for people on a one by one basis, and for people characterized by any numbers larger than one.
