A truly moderate Muslim!Reader comment on item: Scholarship about Islam in America Submitted by Philip Baltzer (United States), Jul 3, 2003 at 19:32 Taking Akbar Ahmed at what he wrote in this article, he is just one to start a dialog with concerning all his suggestions and those that are on our hearts.I have a PhD in Physics and have been retired since 1986, I have been studying Islam, non-stop, for about a year and yearn to be able to communicate with a Muslim that is not an Islamist! Akbar Ahmed wrote: "They expected the scholars of Islam to explain to Americans this is not the case and that is why they were particularly disappointed in scholars like Pipes." This silence, from American Muslims, has greatly bothered me and I would like to start a discussion in this area. Sincerely, Phil Baltzer Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
