AgreedReader comment on item: Mr. Palestine? Submitted by Blackspeare (United States), Nov 25, 2007 at 19:17 The 1947 partition of Palestine called for both a Jewish and Arab State to be created so I guess we can call this Annapolis meeting, playing on the name of an old movie----"Ahead to the Past." There has been much water under the bridge and more blood spilled for peace to have a chance at this juncture because each side believes that they can win advantages with more time. And remember "time" was the Arab's secret weapon after their defeat in 1948. I agree that no good can come from this meeting except for the rhetoric and grandstanding that will result in Israel being blamed for its failure, which in essence, will be a public relations victory, of sorts, for the Arabs. Israel is currently in an economic boom due to its military and security industries spurred on by a siege mentality so they are in no hurry to accept a peace plan dictated by others especially with their borders becoming more secure. The military operation against Syria was a much bigger deal than was let on and Israel knows it still has the upper hand by a wide margin.
