Proud Indian More Loyal than the KINGReader comment on item: Is Turkey's Government Starting a Muslim Reformation? Submitted by Nishi (India), Jun 23, 2008 at 09:55 Dear Kid Indian, You Asked,' DO CHRISTIAN SOCIETIES HAVE THE CHIRSTIANIZED VERSION OF MUTAWEEN (RELIGIOUS POLICE) WHO REGULARLY FLOGG WOMEN WHO AREN'T IN HIJAB?' Here is the reply, please carefully read the following; ‘Nuns in general have little or no contact with the outside world, especially family. The pious family whose child decides to enter the monastic profession understands that their child will become "dead to the world" and therefore be unavailable for marriage. There are a number of different levels that the nun passes through in her profession:Novice—when one enters a monastery the first three to five years are spent as a novice. Novices may or may not (depending on the abbess's wishes) dress in the black inner robe (Isorassa); those who do will also usually wear the apostolnik or a black scarf tied over the head (see photo, above). The isorassa is the first part of the monastic "habit" of which there is only one style for Orthodox monastics (this is true in general, there have been a few slight regional variations over the centuries, but the style always seems to precipitate back to a style common in the 3rd or 4th century). If a novice chooses to leave during the novitiate period no penalty is incurred. Rassaphore—when the abbess deems the novice ready, the novice is asked to join the monastery. If she accepts, she is tonsured in a formal service during which she is given the outer robe (Exorassa) and veil (Epanokamelavkion) to wear, and (because she is now dead to the world) receives a new name. Nuns consider themselves part of a sisterhood; however, tonsured nuns are usually addressed as "Mother" (in some convents, the title of "Mother" is reserved to those who enter into the next level of Stavrophore). Stavrophore—the next level for monastics takes place some years after the first tonsure when the abbess feels the nun has reached a level of discipline, dedication, and humility. Once again, in a formal service the nun is elevated to the "Little Schema" which is signified by additions to her habit of certain symbolic articles of clothing. In addition, the abbess increases the nun's prayer rule, she is allowed a stricter personal ascetic practice, and she is given more responsibility. Great Schema—the final stage, called "Megaloschemos" or "Great Schema" is reached by nuns whose Abbess feels they have reached a high level of excellence. In some monastic traditions the Great Schema is only given to monks and nuns on their death bed, while in others they may be elevated after as little as 25 years of service. It is also a historical fact that as a nun she must remove all vestiges of "Gabrielle Van Der Mal" and sublimate herself into the devoted bride of Christ. As a nun there is no room for her personal desires and aspirations. You may also not know about black veil of the Roman Catholic Church. Black Veil, is actually the symbol of the most complete renunciation of the world and adoption of a nun's life. On the appointed day the nun goes through all the ritual of the marriage ceremony, after a solemn mass at which all the inmates of the convent assist. She is dressed in bridal white with wreath and veil, and receives a wedding-ring, as a "Bride of Christ". Afterwards she presides at a wedding breakfast, at which a bride-cake is cut. She thus bids adieu to all her friends, and having previously taken the white veil, the betrothal, she now assumes the black, and forever forswears the world and its pleasures. Her hair is cut short, and her bridal robes are exchanged for the somber religious habit. Her wedding ring, however, she continues to wear, and it is buried with her. In Lay circles a triangle or rectangle shaped cloth or lace Veil, also known as mantilla, is worn by Catholic women while attending church Mass (liturgy). This practice has fallen into decline since the 1960's among those who attend the revised rite of the Mass, but traditional Catholic women who attend the ancient Latin Mass still wear them. (You can proudly consult Encyclopedia Britannica Eleventh Edition to know more about it). Do you know about Benedetta Carlini (1591-1661) who was a Catholic mystic and lesbian nun, she lived in Counter-Reformation Italy during the sixteenth and seventeenth century. Judith Brown chronicled her life in Immodest Acts (1986), which discussed the events that led to her archival significance for historians of women's spirituality and lesbianism. Canadian playwright and director, Rosemary Rowe has written a play about her affair with Sister Bartolomea, "Benedetta Carlini: Lesbian Nun of Renaissance Italy" You can also read ‘The Devils of Loudun', a non-fiction book by Aldous Huxley, was first published in 1952. It is a historical account of demonic possession, superstition and religious fanaticism in seventeenth-century France, based on events which took place in the small town of Loudun in Poitou. Extreme metal band Cradle of Filth regularly make lyrical references to nuns that have sexual desire, and lead singer Dani Filth has often compared these nuns to the Loudun nuns in this book. Such mention of The Devils of Loudun can be found on their latest album, Thornography, as well as various other songs on previous albums. Nuns are restricted from leaving the cloister, though some may engage in teaching or other vocational work depending on the strictness of enforcement. Visitors are not allowed into the monastery to freely associate with nuns. In essence, the work of a nun is within the confines of her monastery. Your interesting references about bay watch etc. are having significance to the extent that you have seen them and realize that women were not respectfully portrayed there, and they are creation of Western consumerists, who are bent upon to earn cash, by any means. Further it is to inform you that your favourite people had also created films like ‘Killer nun' highlighting Lesbian affairs, Brides of Christ, sacred flesh consists of a series of loosely connected vignettes that depict lesbian sexuality and some sado-masochistic activity. Doubt concerns an older nun, Sister Aloysius, who does not approve of teachers' offering friendship and compassion over the discipline. All these and so many others are only concerned about sex life of Nuns, Why? More so for your horror it is to inform you that none of them were made by us. We are getting information about your dark side from you only. I am surprised that you have only picked few lines of my post and authenticity of rest was not challenged, why I don't know. Anyway you wrote CHRISTIANS FORCE WOMEN TO WEAR BIKINI'S, SHOW THIER CURVES, NUNS ARE FORCED TO WEAR HEAD SCARFS, TORTURED FOR LEAVING THE MINISTRY, PURSUING A RELATIONSHIP ETC." Reply to this is already in my earlier post please read that. Lastly I may inform you that you are not correct that I have adopted the Hindu name to ‘hide behind', actually I am a Hindu Lady Married to A Muslim Gentleman. Lastly I will only say this much that ... the Propaganda of west had swallowed your own self. How sad, the proud of West is now telling upon their head, same proud has gone to your head. Any way Bangluru is not situated far from Kerala you know, hence don't abuse my knowledge but your own common sense.
