Our dear Dhimmi no more... plzReader comment on item: Mahram Despotism vs. Saudi Women Submitted by Bill's girl (Saudi Arabia), Oct 25, 2009 at 02:52 You have no understanding of what you are quoting. The hadeeth that you quote from Aisha does not refer to breast feeding a 'man', but to having breastfed a man when he was an infant. According to this hadeeth, if a woman breastfeeds an infant (of suckling age) five times she would be considered his 'milk (or foster) mother', and he would qualify as a 'mahram' to her. What is a mahram?...Any man with whom a woman has a relationship (of blood or fosterage) that precludes marriage, is considered a Mahram to her. You say: "islam is really the religion of the Hijazi Arabs only as per Q14:4" This simply states that the Messengers of God are sent speaking the language of their people so that the people may understand... uh, doesn't support any argument that you presume to be making here. In fact, the Quran states: And this (submission to Allâh, Islâm) was enjoined by Ibrâhim (Abraham) upon his sons and by Ya'qûb (Jacob), (saying), "O my sons! Allâh has chosen for you the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islâm (as Muslims - Islâmic Monotheism)." (Al-Baqarah 2:132) So then, it is in fact not only of the hijazi Arabs. On the contrary it is for all mankind. In fact, you mention Patricia Crone in support of part of your argument. Well, Ms. Crone argued that Islam did not arise out of Mecca or the hijaz, but near the Mediterranean milieu (Meccan Trade and the Rise of Islam). As for Ignaz Goldziher, he states " I truly entered into the spirit of Islam to such an extent that ultimately I became inwardly convinced that I myself was a Muslim, and judiciously discovered that this was the only religion which, even in its doctrinal and official formulation, can satisfy philosophic minds. My ideal was to elevate Judaism to a similar rational level." This is the problem with many who try to explain Islam, you have no understanding. It is not simply about reading a verse from the Quran or a hadeeth from a collection... one has to understand the full meaning... which is most often provided by other hadeeth, or further commentary by scholars. Some understanding just takes common sense, however, when one is filled with hate... it is often difficult to see things clearly & easy to twist things to suit once rantings.
