For the readers: Most historians of early islam now accept the fact that islam originated in the civilized Middle East in Mesopotamia or today's Iraq. Shocking but true

did you read Meccan Trade? I do not think so. Oh did you mean Hagarism?

For the readers tablighees the likes of Salah Ali and our dear darling Bill's girl read in Paki web sites about Crone's books about early islam but they have never read her books and their comments can be funny and pathetic. In Hagarism Crone is very correct in doubting the veracity of the islamic historical tradition as it is late, anachronistic and tendentious. She exmaines the extant non Muslim literary sources in the 7th and 8th century and the picture that emerges is very different from what we are told by the islamic historical tradition. But the biggest mistake that she makes is that she goes on to reconstruct the history of early islam based on these sources. And as per Wansbrough there is no reason for us to believe the non Muslim sources either. Oh you have no clue about what I' saying right ?
