Why Does Daniel Pipes Trust "Moderate" Muslims?Reader comment on item: Daniel Pipes: 'Israel Has No Policy' Submitted by Canto28 (United States), Dec 10, 2010 at 17:40 I'm with Mark Steyn that they should be called "quiescent " Muslims. Surely Mr Pipes knows that the core problem is not Islamism or Islamists or salafi Islam, etc, but Islam itself, even if he thinks it is more useful for him not to admit this. But what is clear from recent sudden jihad attempts that we have seen (esp. major Hasan's terrorist attack) is that a quiescent, even educated Muslim you wouldn't mind having lunch with one day can with sudden inspiration try to slaughter you and large groups of other infidels the next . Sudden Jihad Syndrome happens and if that happens than sudden treachery of all sorts can happen. After all their Koran says we stubborn infidels are hell bound and the worst of creatures (Q98:6) My point is not to hate quiescent Muslims but not to be very trusting of them, and to know that the only long term solution to the Islamic menace in the West is to actively wage intellectual warfare on Islam, not Islamists, but Islam itself and the reputation of their obviously fraudulent "prophet". The whole ridiculous religion is a shabby structure built on sand and really can't stand very much criticism. This is why imams drive their faithful hysterical when even a lousy image of their "prophet" is sketched. Islam is really very weak and propped up only by terror & threats. Its scholars think (see R. Reilly's "The Closing of the Muslim Mind") that rejecting rational analysis somehow protects their nonsense. It might to some extent but ridicule will take its toll, esp. from ex-Muslims whom we should encourage.
