Israel, the time has come to finally wise up and lose theillusion.Reader comment on item: A Turning Point in the Arab-Israeli Conflict? Submitted by NuritG (United States), May 15, 2011 at 21:55 Israel, the time has come to finally wise up and lose the illusion. The only distinction between Fatah and Hamas is tactical. ThePalestinian Authority (PA)/Fatah, in Ramallah, excels at propaganda warfare, while Hamas, in Gaza, fires rockets. Ramallah is funded by the Quartet - The United Nations, the United States, the European Union (EU) and Russia - whileGaza is underpinned by Damascus and Tehran. Both wish to obliterate the State ofIsrael, but Ramallah is more cunning and deceiving and Gaza more candidlyconfrontational. Abbas's Fatahland is nothing but a more outwardly decorousversion of Hamastan. All the rest is desperate illusion. Most members of the dysfunctional family of nations indeedadvocate the two-state solution, but Israelis aloneare delusional. All the others are stimulated by cynical vested interests, which impair Israel's self-preservationprospects. In other words, other states don't push Israel intothe two-state abyss for Israel's own good. Delusion and illusionswon't lead anyIsraeli anywhere – not to peace with Ramallah or with Gaza, andcertainly not with both. Before the government of Israel rummagearound for yet more appeasement-expediting supplementary sacrifices, all Israelis mustrid themselvesof specious illusion. First things first.
