Debanjan Banerjee needs to be correctedReader comment on item: A Turning Point in the Arab-Israeli Conflict? Submitted by Prashant (United States), May 28, 2011 at 02:58 Dear Dr Pipes: Your reader Debanjan Banerjee needs to be corrected. Banerjee says that if American and other western aid is withdrawn from Israel, it will collapse. Banerjee is dead wrong and it is very important that his statement is challenged. American and western aid to Israel is a non-issue. What needs to be withdrawn from Israel is Palestinian and Islamist violence. If Islamic violence is withdrawn from Israel, Israel may leave New York, Silicon valley, London and Banglore far behind in per capita scientific discoveries, industrial throughput, and prosperity. A lot of modern discoveries in sciences, medicines, engineering and mathematics have come from Israel and Israel's religion-of-peace neighbors have nothing much to show for whatever they have got. Israel needs foreign aid only to prevent itself from being crushed by its enemies. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
