Israel Must Defend Her Sovreignty

Reader comment on item: A Turning Point in the Arab-Israeli Conflict?

Submitted by Jerrold L. Sobel (United States), May 16, 2011 at 01:03

As the insidious cult of Islam develops additonal tactics to erode the sovereignty of the State of Israel, the Jews of that nation must prove they are beyond equal to the task. From a security standpoint, it is an absolute outrage that the Palestinians were allowed to breach fences and enter Israel on the Golan border. By tomorow morning that entire area of no man's land should be made into a minefield.

Secondly, on the anniversary of Nakba, a day the Palestinians so decry, Israelis should be celebrating with equal vigor. It's time long overdue that the Zionist zeal which returned Jews to their homeland after 2000 years be re-ignited amongst the Jews of both Israel and the Diaspora. The time to re-take the political and military initiative is now. Israel, the anti-Jewish world in the General Assembly be damned, will never win any friends regardless what she does. So now it's time to go on the offensive and return to the pre-Oslo II days when her adversaries feared the wrath of her retribution. In word and deed, the time is ripe for the Jews of Israel to proclaim to the world unambiguously, they want their ancient homeland more than the Palestinians and no political or military activism will dislodge them.

To forestall the September ambush the Arab world and their dhimmi allies in Europe, Africa, and Asia are planning at the U.N. Israel must make clear that no amount of coercion will force her into dealing with a unity government comprised of terrorists. Likewise, she will not accept a non-negotiated mandated state. Thus for all intents and purposes, peace talks, which never truly existed are officially dead. As a counter measure to the world body unilaterally recognizing Palestine, Netanyahu should remind them that Israel also has trump cards to play; annexation being just one of them.

Regarding the refugees living in Syrian and Lebanese refugee camps for the past sixty years. Unlike the Jews that were robbed and kicked out of Arab lands in the 40's and 50's and were repatriated, then made citizens of Israel. The Arabs had no such concern for the wretched conditions and the welfare of their brethren. Instead, the Arab world chose to perpetuate the concept of Dar al-Islam, the religious idea that all land a Muslim sets foot on becomes holy land belonging to Islam forever. This is the political argument Israel and her supporters must loudly make and re-make to the world at large. This dispute is not and never was about land. From the Islamic point of view this is a theocratic conflict and for Israel to survive as an independent Jewish State she must be prepared to go it alone if need be but never given in to Islamic or world pressure.
