The Palestinian Arabs are fishished! FINISHED! I tell ya!Reader comment on item: A Turning Point in the Arab-Israeli Conflict? Submitted by There is NO Santa Claus (United States), May 17, 2011 at 07:27 Stick a fork in it. It's done! The Palestinian Arabs are good at being irritating. They make good theater. Their problem is simple: they can't build anything that lasts. Reports like these are "just another day in the life of Israel" with a new twist. Have you been to Israel lately? Have you noticed the construction? With no petrochemical wealth, Israel's per capita GDP far outpaces OPEC nations like Libya. With roughly 1/4 the people, Israel's GDP is roughly 1/2 that of Saudi Arabia. Even with petrochemical wealth, the Arabs can't keep up; nor can they keep up without foreigners doing their work for them. While Arabs tear down, Israel builds up. It is Israel's robust building that goes unreported, unless of course, it's on the "wrong side" of the green line. The usual culprits in the news media tried to hype the "Nakhba" protests and the news reports were summarily ignored. Americans want to know when we're going to finish off Al-Qaida and whether we have anyone we can trust in Pakistan. Americans want to know when we're going to finish off Gadhafy in Libya. For 28 years American leaders have been telling us that there's this "historic chance for peace between Israel and the Palestinians" and it just isn't true. American politicians, news reporters, editors and commentators repeat this at their peril because it seriously erodes their credibility. Whatever happens in the Middle East, one constant remains: Few Arabs are sincerely interested in the establishment of an independent Arab state in Palestine. The cynical "Nakhba" protests only occur because Israel is the only free nation in the region that respects the value of human life. I'm far more interested in news from Syria. Tell me something I DON'T know. Another Arab "protest" against Israel just isn't newsworthy anymore. Been there; done that. The claim that "This time it's different" doesn't sell the story. So far, Americans don't seem to be buying it. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
