My reasons for supporting Israel. Mr Pipes?Reader comment on item: Obama vs Netanyahu, Round Three Submitted by Michael (Egypt), May 25, 2011 at 11:53 I just wonder why Mr Pipes always claim that Israel only deserves US support just because it is the only democratic state in the Middle East. If Yemen, for example, became democratic overnight, would Mr Pipes support it against Israel? I'm also very curious about other things. I may need here to point out that I'm also a supporter of Israel, but my reasons for that support are far different from Mr Pipes . I'm deeply convinced that Israel has no right in any sorts of land whatsoever; and as a Coptic Egyptian, I can never forget or ignore that those were the same people who occupied Sinai in 1967 by a US blessing at the time. Still, I support them against Islam. I'm not a regular reader of Mr Pipes, but I can see clearly that his reasons for supporting Israel are not clear nor enough. Was he to support the Jews for being the only democracy, that wouldn't do. Was he to stand by his country's considerable supporters for their demographic mass effect, demography in America might change over the decades and his country might end up toiling with a larger Muslim percentage than Jews sometime. My reasons are definite: I live among Muslims and though I love them I know and am aware of how dangerous they could be and how sinister and dark their ideology (Islam, which is no religion to me) is and what would be the fate of the holy land in their grip. Jews, on the other hand, are few in number and have no sweeping-across-the-world-with-Sharia delusions and are tractable and easy to deal with. That's all. What are Mr Pipes causes? Also I have a comment regarding "not quite convinced.' What's the case with Russia in particular? Why each time you dream of Anti-Semitism you think of Russia? I see Russia as a very decent and humane ally, not as something the media used to be paranoid about for a century. This is a major issue for US politics, but that's another subject.
