That Being the Case - What to Prepare for in September

Recognizing that various and myriad views about the current posture being maintained by the American Chief Executive do not reveal what the real objective of the relationship of the American State Department (under the term of Clinton) with Israel might really be, for those of us who hold Israel dear, we look to a greater influence on how Israel is going to fair as the world powers that be try to force Israel into a compromise that can never be upheld. This is what we saw in the 'policy speech' that found great disfavor in a general sense from the friends of the Israeli camp. When looking into the face of the American Chief Executive while PM Netanyahu asserted in no uncertain terms how Israel would seek peace on Israel's terms, one could see the eyes of the mind trying to conceal the great disappointment that once again, the American Arabist's lobby still had a challenge to confront as the 'Palestinian' cause took another one on the chin.

There is an increasing sense that the 'softening' posture might be an appropriate allusion, since no one with any sense of how badly the intention of unilaterally declaring the formation of a 'Palestinian' state will be sees how this is will not keep the Middle East from going so much closer to the precipice of war. It is becoming quite apparent that an intifada will likely result once the Arab sensibilities in all the unrest seen in these last few months finish realignment of the underlying power structure and respond to the impending breakdown of the 'Palestinian' cause. The unsettling part is that there appears to be a subliminal pattern of allowing things to get worse so that the 'hero' of the revolution (whoever that might be) assumes the position of gathering all parties to peace.

Unfortunately, guess who's in the middle. (Yes, it is a rhetorical question).
