There is an Answer - One That Few will EndureReader comment on item: Obama vs Netanyahu, Round Three Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), May 25, 2011 at 12:40 Part B of this 3rd visit by Prime Minister Netanyahu was his direct application of diplomacy in the United States Congress, ostensibly the only place outside of Israel where he could get the type of audience his quest for peace deserves. But after the resounding rebuff of the decidedly one sided demand for yet another re-establishment of the untenable 1967 confinement perimeter, we cannot help but notice by the absence of the American Chief Executive during one of the more important visits that he should have entertained, that the American Chief Executive was a no show figuratively as well as literally. Now while it can be readily argued and demonstrated that a Bush era 'Two State Solution' is not a likely solution to be pushed upon Israel, that in view of the so-called 'Arab Spring,' the re-trenched 'Palestinian' position to permit a side-by-side national entity along with a Jewish State is still as unthinkable to the fundamentalist Islamic sentiments as it ever was. PM Netanyahu, however, is willing to make the concession to do just that, along with what he called a generous offer of enough land for a viable 'Palestinian' state. His primary reservation was to have a demilitarized 'Palestinian' state with a defensible perimeter, which the PM stated cannot be measured by the 1967 borders. In this view it is a concession that will never hold. The reason why is provided by the 'Palestinian' sentiment, that Israel is not a viable state in their view, a view they are willing to kill and die for. Now the previous post here says that, "ultimately, Israel must strike a 2 state deal"…….that if not, "the results will be devastating." This posture is already off the map for the 'Palestinian' mindset, for the unilateral declaration being fostered for the fall, by certain intents and purposes, is being prepared to circumvent the 'Two State Solution,' since it will not be requiring a recognition of the Jewish state of Israel on the part of the 'Palestinians.' The observation of no peace for at least another generation could be encountered were it not for the activities that are abounding surrounding Israel and the rest of the Middle East now. The 'Arab Spring' is not what many think it is, that of a rebellion against the oppressive powers of tyranny, but of the undercurrent Islamist mindset of establishing the next step in Islamic domination of the Middle East. A democratic Israel in the middle of it all is therefore, an unconscionable circumstance in Muslim terms. The speech by the Israeli PM is one of an optimistic hope that peace under certain terms is obtainable, but there is the realist seen in the PM that says peace is obtainable only if all the partners are so desirous. Indications by the current antagonists of Israel make it hard to see how that may be achieved, for they remain entrenched in their efforts to eliminate Israel. Pragmatically speaking, there is only one conclusion that will achieve peace. But as it has been said before, no one in Israel's position is going to like the process, but Israel will endure through to the outcome.
