America in Post Christian ModeReader comment on item: Obama vs Netanyahu, Round Three Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 8, 2011 at 18:47 America being listed as No. 1 is likely a subjective observation, that if one were to query the EU, the status of America as the premier as a 'Christian' nation is one that requires more scrutiny. There is the perception and question of the higher moral ground of American intervention in countries where the American 'national interests' are not so easily discerned by the so-called Christian sectors of other countries. Alternately, forget what the United Nations thinks; they are as progressive as it gets. America's current near collapse of its economy as foretold by just about every economics professor-turned-political commentator has varying reasons for the economic upheaval, from plain greed of the market movers to the more philosophical renderings that the Scriptures are being violated and what was sown in dishonor of the Biblical imperatives is reaped likewise. In any event, it can be said with a certainty that something's not quite right with America's finances; let the pundits argue the details. To another certainty, while it is acknowledged that Biblical principles were the cause and effect of the national upbringing of America, so too the efforts of those who did not share the enthusiasm of the founding agents of the brilliance of separating from the 'old world' mindset and mentality of religious rule over secular rule found and tried every trick to discredit the American experiment in democracy, some of it even before its ratification (like some wanting to retain slavery in opposition to the declaration that all men are created equal). What has overrun the modern American mindset is the residual effect of the me- first syndrome. We see it in all aspects of American life (at all levels), from the before mentioned greed that has swept the various parts of the workingman's environment (setting off strikes in a failing economy-how much sense does that make?) to the dysfunctional money market/stock market antics reminiscent of the 1920's that validated the progressive mentality that government knows better. Trusting in the money that says 'In God We Trust' replaces the truth of the motto has found its way into the mainstream mindset. Are we to say that is what the majority believes in? Following the law is a practical expression of the rule of law, the basis of a society that originally placed protection of the common good over the personal good. This is no longer the precept of the most litigious time in American history. Personal good is now the rule. Want an idea of how the nation cannot seem to get its act together, look at how it has lost its understanding of how to function under the basic laws, replacing them with reams and reams of case law that is operating in subterfuge of the original laws that once made this country great. Make a decision to follow the original precepts and then one can see where the failure of the modern version of the American experiment in democracy is going to take us. Seeing is believing: and what we are seeing is that very failure the founding agents warned against – take the True Discipleship in Biblical principles out of the government and it will fail just as the Holy Bible said it would.
