What are Russia's real intentions?Reader comment on item: Russia, China & Israel against Islamism? Submitted by Daniel (Israel), Jul 4, 2012 at 08:18 Considering the fact that Russia is supporting Iran and Syria, politically and militarily, by sending arms and training personnel to these countries, I think that it is naive to trust Russia. Putin is trying to reestablish the Russian Empire, in his own way, confronting the Obama administration. One way of scoring points with the Arab world is by "helping" Israel's enemies defeat and destroy her. This can be done easily by "making friends" with Israel, get involved in joint projects, such as developing a new UAV for example, gain Israel's confidence, obtain intelligence and inside information, and then transfer all of this information and know-how to the rogue, anti-Israel countries.
