New Friends - Older EnemiesReader comment on item: Russia, China & Israel against Islamism? Submitted by Jules Posten (United States), Jul 6, 2012 at 19:34 As opposed to the sudden friendship being exhibited by former foes, i am reminded of the old limerick that goes: there was a young lady of Niger - who smiled as she rode on a tiger - they returned from the ride - with the lady inside - and the smile on the face of the tiger. or perhaps in this case the Russian Bear. Given the long history of Russian anti-semitism, from Tsarist times, through the present, can anything said by Putin be trusted? The "friendship" being shown by the the two communist powers, might be construed as a ploy to drive a wedge between Israel and it's long term friend. the USA, and when the time comes to back up their promises with deeds, the rug is pulled out from under Israel. i would say tread softly in any any all dealings with the two Red Giants.
