Romney Is Out-of-Touch With the Middle East

Reader comment on item: Romney Channels George W. Bush's Middle East Policy

Submitted by Rex Bouvier (United States), Oct 8, 2012 at 17:41

Romney will only win, if votes are purged in the Black, Hispanic, Asian, and less affluent White blue-collar working districts. As for the Middle East, we're in big trouble, if Romney is elected. As for cuts to the defense department budget, the Republicans are probably more to blame than the Democrats due to the fiasco caused by the Republican caucus in the deficit debacle. Rather than avoiding further engagement and provocation in the Middle East, Romney wants to send thousand more Americans into harm's way and spend more money promoting things that will never be. The invasion of Iraq by the Bush/Cheney administration has led to a totally new configuration in the Middle East, where Iraq has become a satellite state of Iran. This has further emboldened the Iranians. There is no longer any counter weight toward Iran. And what happened to those Weapons of Mass Destruction? Hmm.... How about that connection between 9/11 and Iraq? That also proved false. The Arab spring is also a direct ramification of the Bush administration's actions in the region. Do we really want a replay of the Bush/Cheney administration or worse? Romney still thinks that there's a cold war between the U.S. and Russia. Go figure? Thanks to the Republican party, we actually have more in common with Russia than ever before with purging votes and preventing millions from registering to vote. Personally, I think Putin is less of a liability than Romney, when it comes to the Middle East. At least Putin is aware of political Islam and Islamism; Romney is not. Romney managed to insult and offend both the Palestinian Arabs, Israeli and many American Jews in one full swoop. That takes talent -- the wrong talent! Never mind losing our social security, our medicare, and our pensions, we may find ourselves in a world war. With Romney, the likelihood of a Fourth Reich may become a reality. It is no wonder that both Israeli and American Jews are now seeking and acquiring German citizenship based on their ancestors, who perished in Germany during the Third Reich. Do we really want a replay here in the U.S. by electing Romney? Personally, I don't care for the progeny of the American German Bund. My mother's cousin was Edgar H. Burman, who was the one, who led the American Jews in New York against the American German Bund. He's the one, who exposed and disbanded the American German Bund in Suffolk County, Long Island. Again, do we really want a full replay of the 1920s through the 1940s with a whole lot of Middle Eastern spice?
