Sara, I identify the person speaking freely in the debate as the authentic Romney rather than the one reading a scripted speech. Their use of language separates the two.

Since the 9-11 US foreign policy has been attached to the personality of the president. That needs to change for it establishes emotional expectations depending on who is in office. Romney is the managerial type who will step back and pragmatically let the state department run foreign policy. Maybe it would be clever for Romney to explain and highlight the professional experience of his future advisors on foreign policy in the upcoming debate.
