From Beirut to BenghaziReader comment on item: Romney Channels George W. Bush's Middle East Policy Submitted by Ron M (United States), Oct 8, 2012 at 20:49 In the spirit of "fair and balanced," how do you compare the performance of our Republican President Reagan, when 241 US Marines were murdered by car bomb in 1983? Was there ever any serious retaliation? No, none, nada. Or, does one believe that George Tenet's August 6 2001 warning of Al Queda threat to homeland to President Bush was followed by appropriate executive action? What we do know is that Obama avenged the 3000 murdered Americans. And, his and multinational sanctions are crippling the Iranian currency. And, since Romney won't raise anyones taxes to fight a 3rd war (unprecedented in the history of the country that any war did not cause a raise in taxes), so much for all this lamentation about our federal deficit. Yes, 4 brave and heroic Americans were lost in Benghazi. But to believe that Mitt Romney, as President, would automatically protect our diplomatic corps, on Day 1, from the risks of foreign service, is just simply a JOKE.
