Myth, the perception means everythingReader comment on item: Romney Channels George W. Bush's Middle East Policy Submitted by sara (United States), Oct 10, 2012 at 18:14 You are quite correct in that the persona of the President determines many things. Since in dealings with the Muslim world, strength and conviction work as wonderful deterrents and thus result in much greater chances for peace and stability, it would behoove Romney to take a firm and stern stance in his foreign policy, in stark contrast to Obama's 'why can't we all just get along' naivete. I believe that the Muslim Brotherhood would not have been as bold to make their moves with a crazy cowboy in the White House (referring to GW Bush). They may have hated him, mocked him and ranted about him but they also feared him. He gave the impression that he was capable of anything, and that is the true path to peace. As for 'authentic' Romney in the debate, while I have grown a bit more used to his awkwardness, he is after all a politician, and they are not know for authenticity. It will unfortunately always come down to who plays the politics game most shrewdly. Obama is a master at it, by far his most developed skill set.
