ROMNEY'S MID-EAST POLICY, or the U.S FOR THAT MATTERReader comment on item: Romney Channels George W. Bush's Middle East Policy Submitted by JACQUES HADIDA (United States), Oct 8, 2012 at 18:45 Sadly, no one understands nor has an idea as to how to handle the Mid-East policy. Not Romney, not Obama, not Bush before, no one. As long as it is in America's mind to convert the arab world into a democracy, we will keep wasting our time. To see as Bush suggested a democracy within 9 years in Iraq is a dream. The same for Egypt, Libya or anyone else there. We did help Libya get rid of their dictator, are we any better now, since we did the same with getting rid of Saddam. Egypt without Mubarack is certainly not a dream. You said it so rightfully , we keep forgetting we are dealing with Islam, Islamism and Jihad to only use these names. And you say Romney want to take care of Syria, the way we did with Libya? and help Turkey too? Yes, it is sad to see Assad killing his own people. Yet, those are his people and look at the places where we got involved because of us being the good guys always wishing to help the oppressed ones. Where did it lead us? Am sad to think that maybe it is time to let the Arabs solve their own problems within themselves. I say so , knowing that it is not Saudi Arabia, the richest of them all that will offer their help. They care about themselves only. Maye it is time we do lke them and take care of our people and our problems. Nothing has worked so far as long as we stay on the wrong track, Is it not time to change the modus vivendi? Isn't the U.S tired of being the policeman of the world? Thinking we have the genius to solve everyone else's problems? Islam is what it is and we need to understand that the Arab world wants to live its own way. As a tribe with a tribal chief and if the Sharia tells you to drink urine to cure your disease, go for it. Why should it bother me? It is their life. The same goes if the man wants to have 4 wives, plus a concubine. Yes, the Arab can do all of that on his land, but do not let him convince you that he can do it anywhere he wishes, for sadly this is starting to happen. Let us ask them what they want and let them have it and give us peace. But here we will face the Israeli-Palestinian issue which is another ball of wax. As for joining the Syrian rebels whom we do not know who they are and who may make the new Syria another Islamic Tunisia, let alone a Muslim Brotherhood Egypt, then what have we accomplished? The problem will always be there and will never disappear as long as America and the West are around.Get rid of them and the problem is gone. I would let them fight their wars, kill one another (how sad it reminds us of the Middle Ages) chose their leaders. Make their laws. It is their choice but to send them money on top of that, I say no. I am no longer interested.
