To Mahendran JacobReader comment on item: Disappearing Christians in the Middle East Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), Dec 24, 2012 at 20:08 Speaking as a professional swindler of the young--oops, a public high school social studies teacher in the eastern United States--we would not be allowed to teach the Bible or Catechism (I like the Westminster and Heidelberg ones myself) if the intent were to instill Christian ethics. Today, the official line from my masters is that Christianity is an oppressive, racist, patriarchial, homophobic religion and the sooner it is uprooted and eradicated, the better for all of us. They cheer when some Western woman marries a Muslim, and look the other way three years later when the pair has divorced and the woman is walking around with her broken jaw on the mend and the eye put out by her ex is replaced with a glass one. Now, maybe you and I both know that Christianity is liberating and accepting, and I have family ties to a part of the world where the whole idea of female literacy got imported by Christian missionaries who'd be condemned as "fundamentalist patriarchs" if they were alive today. But America's educational and legal elites still hate the Christian faith and want to limit it wherever they can.
