Obssession with the Pope

Well, italian, speaking as an American Protestant, the administrations of the older George Bush and, too a lesser extent, Bill Clinton, thought that persecution of Christians was a serious issue. That of the younger Bush probably thought so, too, which has been noted by Sudanese refugees now resident in the USA.

As for Obama, his kind of Christianity (judging by the Chicago church of which he was a member for twenty years) is the kind that's against any white people; and my guess is that the Copts, Assyrians, Maronites, Iranian Evangelicals, and Pakistani and Bangladeshi Christians are light enough to qualify as such. Probably even the South Sudanese qualify as "white" because Jeremiah Wright's friend Louis Farrakhan hates them.
