the need of adulthoodReader comment on item: What Is the Future of Conservatism in the Wake of the 2012 Election? Submitted by Mary H. Stewart (United States), Jan 3, 2013 at 08:30 Every time I learn of another commentator who uses the term adolescent to describe the current crop of radicals I hope that it will stick; our real problem is the invasion of toxic adolescence, that is, vulgar adolescence spread to politics. 'this is why so many political idiots can be found in the academic world, from which this social disease spread gramsci fashion to the world of state bureaucrats, including judges - bureaucrats in black robes, who so often swing left after their appointment. It is time to make a distinction between religious rules which can be labeled scrooge-spoiling-the fun of young things and the basic rules of any stable society; in particular the rules for sexual behavior and the understanding of the vulnerability of women in a sexually chaotic society and the ruin of marriage and the birth rate. So many followers of radicals in the twentieth century were really nice people who believed in adolescent utopias to be attained as soon as daddy's tiresome rules were ditched; flowers springing from the rubble. They believed in Hitler, ikn Stalin, in the sexual revolution and now in Gaia. People are kept in school too long after their hormones loosen up and take up booze and sex and cigarettes and left wing politics to show that they are adult and can run their own lives. We need to campaign for real adulthood: permanent commitments to family and children, support for adult behavior without which of course no true religion can flourish.
