Further commentsReader comment on item: What Is the Future of Conservatism in the Wake of the 2012 Election? Submitted by GK (United States), Feb 5, 2013 at 10:56 Without an edit function, submitting comments to the blog is a high risk activity. My above comments were typed on the fly during a busy day. Bits and pieces were extracted from a variety of sources, and my typos were my own. Hard to write well when trying to communicate within the confines of a 15 minute break. So pardon the typos. But as I reread the above, I see that the point I wanted could be simpler: "Conservatism" has so many faces and some of them are not good. What I really want to see in US politics is a party of moderation, not of extremes. And like many others of my age and experience, I feel that today's GOP is no longer a moderate and balanced party, but a party that caters to a variety of outliers: Religious ideologues; affluent elitists; racists/bigots and close-minded xenophobes; conservative extremists; and the uninformed unquestioning followers of loud-mouth media blowhards.
