Lebanon

The unfortunate and seemingly unavoidable side-effect of the Syrian civil war will be a mirror image civil war within Lebanon which has already endured more than its share of misery. The only moral and strategic high ground for US and Israel is to support humanitarian relief efforts. These could be funneled through the politically neutral christians that live mostly in the western areas near the Alawite enclaves bordering Lebanon. The west should stand for compassion and even handedness and do what it can to protect the long standing christian population of the mid-east.
