Think before what you wish : they may come trueReader comment on item: What Turkey's Riots Mean Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Jun 22, 2013 at 14:27 Those who are willing for a collapse of the Turkish economy need to understand two points here. 1. The collapse of the Turkish economy will not bring the pro-Western , pro-Israel generals in power as Mr. Pipes has indicated he wants. Instead a cash-strapped Turkey may look to alternate sources of funding for example , Iran , China and Russia. Once Turkey decides to stop toeing the Western line of Syria , who could save these Western-backed Al-Qaida people murdering Christians (as ordered by their CIA handlers) in the Levant ? 2. Another important point to note here is that a cash-strapped Turkey may need access to oil reserves. Turkey has that at it's disposal. The Tammar and Leviathan gas fields of Israel. If Turkey can snatch those fields away from Israel in a quick six-day war kind scenario , that would be very good. In my view the war in Syria is the best chance for Turkey to do so. Israel thinks her main enemies are in the Syrian desert fighting amongst themselves but she is not prepared for a quick surprise attack.
